Bay of Kotor

A deep, fjord-like bay ringed by mountains and medieval towns, part of a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The Bay of Kotor (Boka Kotorska) winds deep into the mountains of Montenegro. Its old towns — Kotor, Perast, Risan and others — form the UNESCO-listed Natural and Culturo-Historical Region of Kotor.

Most visitors base themselves in Kotor and explore the bay by boat. A typical cruise passes Perast and the two islets, slips through the narrow Verige strait and, in summer, continues out to the Blue Cave on the Luštica peninsula for a swim.
