St George island

The natural twin of Our Lady of the Rocks — a cypress-covered islet with a Benedictine monastery, seen from the boat.

Updated 1 min read

Just beside Our Lady of the Rocks floats St George (Sveti Đorđe), a natural islet crowned with tall cypresses and a Benedictine monastery dating back to the Middle Ages.

Unlike its man-made neighbour, St George is generally not open to visitors. Most boats circle it slowly on the way to or from Our Lady of the Rocks, so you'll still get a close look and the classic photo of the two islets together.
